The Katherine children have been very busy during the last school holidays at Nitmiluk Gorge!

Our Katherine School Holiday Programs, occurring during each Katherine school break, have had an amazing response to date and have offered activities such as boat tours, cooking classes, Family Fun Days Poolside and cultural activities, to mention some.

The program has been a great platform for Nitmiluk to further share the Nitmiluk experience with the Katherine locals while encouraging youths to explore activities at the National Park. It was great to work together with Katherine businesses such as the YMCA (lifeguards), Katherine Castles, Hyper the Clown and Corrugated Iron to deliver some of the fun products!

A special thank you goes to the Department of Chief Minister (DCM), significant supporters of the Katherine and Big Rivers Region. The DCM have assisted us with funding since December 2017, which allowed us to provide free school holidays activities to school aged children.

As safety always comes first, we have recently completed our regular round of First Aid Training. Also in this area, DCM  have contributed to the purchase of two new defibrillators, one of which will be stationed poolside, in the campground area, in addition to the ones located at the Gorge and at the Visitor Centre.
