‘You haven’t been down under till you’ve been outback’ is what they say in Northern Territory and they are so right! There are so many gems and wonders found in the outback of Australia and now there are no more excuses not to go see famous Ayers Rock, the desert landscapes of Alice Springs and the stunning gorges at Nitmiluk National Park.

Northern Territory Tourism has collaborated with Qantas Airlines to encourage American visitors to see more of what Australia has to offer. In fact, they have made is irresistibly easy to go and explore the rugged outback of Australia with their hand-out of free one-way flight tickets to Northern Territory.

From Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, you can fly to Darwin, Alice Springs or Uluru and it won’t cost you a dime. The only requirement is to book a 2-night stay in North Territory while you are there. Easy peasy! You must book your ticket before July 31st and you have to travel before December 31st.

Nitmiluk Gorge

Nitmiluk National Park is a definite highlight of Northern Territory. Home to the indigenous Australian Jawoyn people, this massive park features 13 sandstone gorges, surrounded by lush rainforest, ancient Aboriginal rock art, waterfalls and wildlife. The sandstone cliffs reach heights up to a 100 meters and there are hiking trails, boat rides and helicopter flights available. Outdoor lovers won’t get enough of amazingly beautiful this place, located just 300 kilometers away from Darwin. Hikers can go on a real adventure in this national park, walking the Jatbula Trail in 5 days (58 kilometers).

Ayers Rock

Everybody knows Ayers Rock and now you can finally go see this world wonder with your own eyes and scrap it off your bucket list. This 1,142-foot tall red sandstone is one of the images that pop right up when thinking of Australia and it is located in Uluru. Ayers Rock is of massive spiritual importance to the indigenous Australian and it is believed to be 550 million years old. At this very moment, there are some more magical things happening in Uluru; The Field of Light experience by Bruce Munro, featuring more than 50.000 light bulbs illuminating these ancient lands upon nightfall.
