Southern Rockhole Ferry

Tropical Summer Months only (Dec - Mar) - Drop off: 9am, 11am and 2pm - Pick up: 10:30am and 12:30pm and 3:30pm
  • Each Way $15.50

The Southern Rockhole is a seasonal waterfall, located towards the top of the first gorge on the south eastern side of the river.

There are several ways to reach the Rockhole which is 4km (each way) from the Nitmiluk Visitors Centre. You have the option to go by foot, or alternatively you can catch a boat ferry. Boat ferries are available either one-way or return, with the option of walking one way and taking the ferry back.

The boat ferry will take you within 150m of the Rockhole, you are then required to walk the remainder of the way. The walk is not a man made path, and part of the enjoyment is rock-hopping the majority of the way in. As such, a moderate level of fitness and mobility is required.

The Rockhole is a beautiful place to enjoy nature and the freshwater swimming holes. It’s a perfect way to cool off from the warm tropical surrounds.

  • Swimming is only permitted when the Rockhole has been opened by Parks and Wildlife
  • Contact our Reservations Team to ensure the tour is operating
  • Update - May 2021: The Southern Rockhole Ferries will be back around December!
