(8hr session) – Distance (return) 2nd Gorge = 12.2km, 3rd Gorge 14.6km and 4th Gorge = 16.6km
This is a great way to explore the Nitmiluk Gorges according to your own itinerary and fitness level. Take in the diversity of the landscapes and habitats as you paddle your way through the gorges, a visual treat for any nature lover. Experienced canoeists will make it to the end of the 4th gorge, where there is Indigenous rock art and a picnic spot perfect for lunch or a refreshing swim. Please note, canoeing is temporarily not available on Nitmiluk Gorge due to river levels.

PLEASE NOTE: Please ensure that you are sun smart and wear a shirt, hat and sunscreen, and wear mosquito repellent to protect yourself. Take along plenty of water and keep personal belongings to a minimum. A small splash proof container for your canoe is available, however it is not waterproof.
SEASONAL*: During the months of approximately December – May, canoe hire does not operate for safety reasons, due to poor weather and perilous river conditions. The canoeing season will recommence once Parks and Wildlife have completed their annual safety and crocodile survey. For further information please speak to our reservations team.
CASH DEPOSIT: A $50.00 refundable cash deposit per canoe on the day is required at the canoe shed or a $60.00 cash deposit for overnight hire.
AGE RESTRICTIONS: Children under the age of 5 years are not permitted to canoe due to safety regulations. Children aged between the ages of 6 – 12 years must be accompanied by an adult in a double canoe.
